NFRF Exploration Grant Awarded!
We are very pleased to announce that the Aging In Place research cluster and our collaborators in UBCO Computer Science and Engineering have been awarded a New Frontiers in Research Fund Exploration grantĀ for high-risk, high-reward interdisciplinary research! These federal funds will support our project titled “Virtual Reality: A relevant, safe, trusted and co-created platform with older adults”.
This project aims to develop a virtual reality (VR) intervention for health & wellbeing using an innovative approach to co-design with older adults. Our unique design approach will bring together older adults as expert members of the development team, including researchers and trainees, from start to finish to co-create a relevant, trusted, and enjoyable VR intervention.
This project will be led by NPI Dr. Jakobi and co-PI and VR expert Dr. Boger and will incorporate the expertise of all members of our cluster along with UBCO collaborators in VR development. We are excited to dive into this highly interdisciplinary endeavor! Stay tuned to our social media for updates as recruitment for team members gets underway, including older adults across Canada and student trainees. We are also recruiting for two postdoctoral fellow positions to co-lead this project (job ads to be posted soon).
