UBCO Heat Age Friendly Game Night a great success!

UBCO Heat Basketball

To celebrate joining the Age Friendly University global network and engage older adults on campus in a non-academic setting we hosted the UBCO Heat Basketball AFU Game Night on February 4th, 2023. Thirty-six guests, the oldest aged 96 years, came out to cheer on the Men’s Heat to a huge win! Older adults from the Okanagan community were invited to attend and residents from Chartwell and Vineyards Retirement homes bussed to campus to attend. This event specifically worked to address principle #8 of the 10 AFU principles that UBC Okanagan has made an institutional commitment to: enhancing access for older adults to the university’s range of health and wellness programs. Most importantly of all, we all had a lot of fun!
